Älvdalen is a place not very far from us and we've driven through it on many occasions on the way to the 'Fjälls' around Idre (more mountainous regions in northern Dalarna). But it has a nice museum of Hagström musical instruments, a porphyry museum and a beautiful large river flowing alongside the campsite.
The campsite in early march was quite empty apart from some snowmobiling visitors, and Dalälven (the river giving Älvdalen it's name) is right across the campsite.
Apart from visiting the museum (both are in the same place), we enjoyed a really nice dinner at Dalgatan 118.
